Egyptian Alabaster, Shaped by Hand

Handmade in Cairo, the Round Alabaster Candle Holder begins with alabaster quarried in Egypt. Artisans gradually cut and shape the stone over several days to protect its fine crystalline structure, forming a smooth, rounded holder that retains the natural shifts in tone and veining of the material.

A Different Pattern in Every Piece

No two alabaster candle holders are alike. Cream, ivory, and pale mineral markings move across the stone differently from piece to piece, giving each holder its own surface pattern. Measuring approximately 4 inches high by 4.25 inches wide, this alabaster tea light holder has a compact, rounded form that sits easily on a dining table, mantel, or bedside surface.

Alabaster Lit from Within

Once a tea light is lit, the translucent stone carries the flame through its walls, revealing veining that is harder to see when unlit. Display the stone candle holder on its own or group it with other pieces from our Candles and Candle Holders collection for variation in material, height, and form.

Before first use, place a thin layer of sand in the base beneath the tea light. Intended for use as a candle holder only. Does not hold water.

Meet the Maker

ABOUT SIROCCO

Founded in 2010 by Malou Lenskjold, Ellen Raven, and Henrik Raven, Sirocco Living works with Egyptian artisans to create objects from materials including alabaster, stone, copper, wool, and cotton. The collection draws on traditional handcrafting methods and the materials of the region.

The name Sirocco refers to the wind that travels from the Sahara toward Europe, carrying grains of desert sand with it.

Product Care

Keep alabaster away from water, which can affect its smooth finish and color. Dust with a soft, dry cloth. For surface stains or grime, carefully use a soft cloth lightly moistened with mineral spirits or acetone.

Before lighting a tea light, place a thin layer of sand in the base. The holder may become hot during use. Keep the wick trimmed and the flame low, or use a flameless LED tea light.
