ABOUT NYBG
A GARDEN THAT HAS BEEN GROWING SINCE 1891
The New York Botanical Garden is a vast campus of living, working science rooted in the Bronx. Founded in 1891, NYBG was built on a simple premise: that plants deserve to be studied with the same seriousness given to art or history. More than a century later, that mission still shapes the grounds.
Hundreds of scientists and dedicated horticulturists work here today, tending several thousands of plants in garden exhibits including a world-renowned orchid collection, and a herbarium of millions of preserved specimens. The pollinator gardens, orchid houses, and conservation programs exist for visitors to experience and scientists to study at once; the beauty on display inseparable from the research that sustains it.
What ties NYBG to Bloomist isn't just subject matter, but method. Bloomist works with artisans whose practice is patient, deliberate, and built on deep knowledge of material and tradition. Both brands believe the best objects, like the best research, come from people who have given real time to understanding what they do.
