Ceramicist Peter Sheldon works and lives in East Los Angeles, but his pieces — like hand-thrown gently pink terracotta clay vases and minimal stoneware pieces in a glazed charcoal shade — recall his childhood in Vermont. They carefully balance usefulness with elegance; not special-occasion-only-ware, they’re created to be used day-in, day-out, for quotidian family dinners. Sheldon bills his workspace as a “research lab” as well as a studio.
