Flowering Orchid Cactus Kokedama

The Orchid Cactus Kokedama brings a tropical forest epiphyte into a hand-wrapped moss sphere. Scalloped Epiphyllum stems emerge in layered ribbons, sculptural year-round, and striking when they bloom.

Unlike desert cacti, epiphyllums grow on tree branches rather than in soil, making them more moisture-tolerant and shade-adapted than most cacti. Grow one with care, and it rewards you with large, luminous flowers.

A Living Focal Point

Each kokedama is shaped into a dense moss sphere and rests in a low patina tray, available in white or gray. Its layered stems lend dimension to shelves, sills, or tabletops. It stands confidently on its own or lifted with our small Wrought Iron Planter Stand, Granite Stands, and Goblet Terra Cotta Planters (each sold separately).

From Care to Bloom

Orchid cactus plants thrive in bright, filtered light and appreciate a weekly soak; submerge the moss ball, then squeeze out excess water before returning it to its tray. Keep temperatures between 60°F and 80°F.

To encourage blooms, provide a winter rest of 40–50 days with cooler temperatures (50°F–60°F) and very little water. Once buds form, do not move the plant. See the full care guide section for details.
