Hand Woven Natural Wave Basket

Sharing the same sculptural petal rim as the Earthy Wave Basket, the Natural Wave Basket is handwoven from undyed elephant grass by artisans in Bolgatanga, Ghana. No dye, no color banding. It carries equally well in a stripped-back living room or a layered bedroom corner.

Tightly coiled rows of elephant grass run horizontally from base to rim, giving the outside a firm, even texture, while the rim rises into a wide flower shape.

Planter, Cachepot, or Storage

The petal opening gives trailing plants like pothos or philodendron room to spill naturally over the peaks. Set a nursery pot directly inside to use it as a cachepot, or line the interior with plastic or a coco liner before planting directly. It holds linens or small decorative items in a bedroom or living room and sits alongside other natural fiber storage for a layered look.

A Bolgatanga Basket Built on Tradition

Elephant grass follows a seasonal rhythm in the Bolgatanga district. It's harvested at the end of the dry season, split by hand, and dried before weaving begins. The timing matters; grass cut too late in the season turns brittle and breaks under the weaver's tension. Artisans in the district have read these conditions across generations, producing baskets that hold their form through years of daily use.
